CAREERS & OPPORTUNITIES
Our Careers Programme supports students to understand the variety of roles that are on offer across the creative industries and make informed choices around their next steps.
The support available is wide ranging and includes Industry Progression lessons, weekly 1:1 drop-in sessions with the Industry Team, UCAS support, access to our Careers Advisor, as well as our Industry in LSA and Industry beyond the classroom programmes.
Back to your future
In Year One students attend Back To Your Future which offers them the opportunity to meet representatives from Higher Education (Universities), Further Education colleges and training providers.
This event is an important part of the vocational education provided to LSA students, enabling them to make informed choices as to their next steps once they graduate.
This year we had representatives from Falmouth University, University of the Arts London, Escape Studios, the National Film and Television School, Christine Blundell Make Up Academy and many more.
UCAS SUPPORT
At London Screen Academy, we offer support to students when applying to UCAS - ensuring students are prepared for the next stage of their education or career.
Guidance on next steps is provided by the Industry Progression Manager within the Industry Department. This support helps students understand how different courses, pathways and opportunities align with current industry practice and future career goals.
Practical support with UCAS applications - including personal statements, references and submission - is provided by Tutors and Year Leads, who work closely with students throughout the application process.
Progression guidance is embedded into the curriculum and delivered through key events such as Back to Your Future in Year 1 and Future You in Year 2, giving students structured opportunities to explore options, hear from industry and reflect on their next steps.
Students are also kept informed of open days, events and progression opportunities through the weekly student bulletin, and can access weekly drop-in sessions for personalised advice and ongoing support delivered by the Industry Department.
Together, this ensures students receive coordinated, informed guidance - combining academic support with real industry insight - as they plan their future beyond LSA.
Future you
In Year 2 students attend Future You, an industry careers fair which gives them the opportunity to learn more about entry level jobs, apprenticeships and traineeships in the industry.
Featuring over 30 of our partners, the day gives students the chance to practice the networking skills learnt during their time at LSA and help them build plans for their future.
An important part of the day is hearing from young people in our alumni network, who return to share their experiences across a range of destinations including going to University, working as a freelancer, studying on a Level 4 course and becoming an apprentice or trainee.
Last year, companies that took part included Amazon, Studio Lambert, Ambassadors Theatre Group, Panavision, All3 Media, BECTU, The Farm, NBCUniversal, the National Youth Theatre and Working Title.
